Brass threaded inserts are used to create durable and reusable internal threads in plastic parts and other soft materials. They are commonly installed after molding by heat setting, ultrasonic installation or press fitting. For more information about threaded inserts selection for plastic applications, please read our guide: When Should You Use Brass Threaded Inserts in Plastic Parts?
Compared with driving screws directly into plastic, threaded inserts can improve thread life and are especially useful when products require repeated assembly and disassembly.
Hextro supplies brass threaded inserts according to drawings, samples and application requirements. Common options include heat-set inserts, ultrasonic inserts, press-fit inserts, headed and headless styles, through-hole and blind designs, with straight, diamond or helical knurl patterns.
Available Materials
Common materials include brass, lead-free brass and other specified copper alloys. Material selection can be reviewed according to machining performance, strength, environmental compliance and application requirements.
RoHS or REACH compliant materials and supporting documents can be provided when required.
Surface Finish Options
Available finishes include plain brass, tin plating, nickel plating and other specified surface treatments.
The finish can be selected according to corrosion resistance, solderability, electrical performance, appearance and assembly requirements.
Common Applications
Brass threaded inserts are commonly used in ABS, PC, PA, PBT and other thermoplastic parts, including electronic housings, plastic enclosures, automotive plastic components, appliances, consumer products and general OEM assemblies.
For softer plastics such as PP, the insert design, knurl pattern and boss structure should be reviewed carefully to achieve suitable holding strength.
Installation and Plastic Part Design
The insert must match the plastic material, installation method, hole diameter and boss dimensions.
If the installation hole is too small, the plastic boss may crack or deform. If it is too large, pull-out strength and torque resistance may be reduced.
For new projects, sample installation and pull-out or torque testing are recommended before mass production.
What We Need for Quotation
Please provide:
Thread size
Outer diameter and length
Insert type and knurl pattern
Headed or headless design
Through-hole or blind style
Material and surface finish
Order quantity
Plastic material
Installation method
Installation hole or boss dimensions, if available
Drawings, samples or clear photos can help speed up review and reduce misunderstanding.
Quality Check Points
Thread accuracy, outer diameter, length, knurl geometry, lead-in chamfer, head dimensions, surface finish, burr control and material confirmation can be checked according to order requirements.
Pull-out testing, torque testing, installation trials and RoHS or REACH requirements can also be discussed when needed.
Packaging Information
Standard packing includes labeled PE bags, small boxes and export cartons according to insert size, quantity and customer requirements.
For larger export orders, cartons can be palletized and protected with stretch film. Custom labels, batch information and kit-style packing are also available.
For automated assembly requirements, tape and reel packing can be discussed according to insert size, orientation and feeding requirements.
Labels can include thread size, insert type, material, finish, quantity and batch information. Moisture protection, carton marking and special packing requirements can be arranged according to shipping and application needs.

Final Note
Brass threaded inserts are not required for every plastic application. They are most useful when stronger holding force, repeated assembly or longer thread life is required.
A suitable insert should match the plastic material, installation method and boss design. Hextro supports brass threaded inserts and related custom fasteners according to drawings, samples and application requirements.
