Self-Tapping / Thread-Forming Screws
Hextro supplies self-tapping and thread-forming screws from China for sheet metal, plastics and OEM assembly, with multiple point styles, head types, materials and finishes.
Specifications
- Material
- Carbon steel, stainless steel or as specified
- Customization
- Made to drawing, sample or part number
Self-tapping and thread-forming screws create mating threads during installation, helping reduce the need for pre-tapped holes, nuts or threaded inserts in suitable applications. They are commonly used in thin sheet metal, plastic housings, electrical enclosures, appliance parts and other OEM assemblies.
The correct screw design depends on the mating material, material thickness, pilot hole size and installation method. A screw suitable for sheet metal may not perform well in plastic, while an unsuitable thread form or hardness may cause cracking, stripping or unstable tightening torque.
Hextro supplies self-tapping screws, thread-forming screws and related custom fasteners according to drawings, samples and application requirements. Point style, thread geometry, head type, drive type, material, hardness and surface finish can be reviewed according to the actual assembly conditions.
Common Types
Sheet metal screws, thread-forming screws, self-drilling screws, trilobular screws, PT-style screws and customized tapping screws.
Available Materials
Carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy steel and other specified materials according to strength, hardness and corrosion-resistance requirements.
Surface Finish Options
Zinc plating, black zinc, nickel plating, black oxide, phosphate, Dacromet, zinc-nickel coating and other specified surface treatments.
Common Head and Drive Options
Pan head, countersunk flat head, hex washer head and round head are available with Phillips, Pozidriv, Torx, slotted or hex socket drives, subject to size and production feasibility.
Common Applications
Thin sheet metal parts, plastic housings, electrical enclosures, control boxes, appliance components, machinery covers, automotive parts and general OEM assembly projects.
What We Need for Quotation
Please provide the screw size, thread or point style, head and drive type, material, hardness requirement, surface finish, quantity and application details.
For plastic or sheet metal applications, the mating material, material thickness and pilot hole size are especially helpful. Drawings, samples or clear photos can reduce misunderstanding and speed up quotation.
Quality Check Points
Thread form, point geometry, head dimensions, drive recess, hardness, surface finish, installation torque, burr control and packaging can be checked according to the order requirements.
Packaging Information
Small quantities are normally packed in labeled PE bags or inner boxes. Outer cartons are generally controlled within 20 kg for easier handling. For larger export orders, cartons can be palletized and wrapped with stretch film. Custom labels, small-box packing and customer-specified packaging can also be reviewed.
